varioShore TPU or varioShore PEBA?
With varioShore, both give you something extra: the ability to use foaming to tune weight and softness during printing.
TPU - Flex & Absorb
TPU is made for applications where flexibility and energy absorption matter. It helps absorb and dissipate energy under load, making it well suited for cushioning, impact damping and other applications that benefit from a controlled, flexible response.
What makes varioShore TPU different is the added foaming technology. During printing, the material expands, allowing you to create parts that are lighter and softer than the filament would normally allow. By adjusting your print settings, you can control the amount of foaming and tune the final feel of your part.
Within the range, 85A is softer than our original 95A, opening up even more possibilities for soft and cushioning applications.
PEBA - Flex & Return
PEBA combines flexibility with high energy return. It recovers quickly after compression and returns energy, making it especially interesting for dynamic applications where rebound and responsiveness matter.
With varioShore PEBA, we bring our foaming technology to an energy-returning material. This combines the responsive character of PEBA with the ability to create lighter, softer parts through controlled foaming.
Within the range, 40D/85A is softer than 45D/95A. Choose 40D for a softer response, or 45D when you want a firmer feel while maintaining the energy-returning characteristics of PEBA.
Choose TPU to flex and absorb energy, or PEBA to flex and return it. Combine the two when your design can benefit from the best of both.

Combining varioShore TPU and PEBA
When combining varioShore TPU 85A or 95A with varioShore PEBA 40D or 45D, we recommend using beam interlocking. This creates a mechanical connection between the materials, as shown in the cross-section render, where the two materials interlock like small fingers.
Filament profiles
Our downloadable Filament Profiles have been updated with our latest filaments and contain the recommended settings for supported printers and slicers. Prefer to create or fine-tune your own profile? Use the Basic printing settings (see the table below) as a starting point and adjust them to your printer.

From Idea to Innovative Filament – Together with You
At colorFabb, everything revolves around innovation and customization. In the Research & Development department, I work on the next big step in 3D printing. Do you have an idea for a new filament? A specific application for which existing material just doesn't meet the requirements? Then we dive into the world of materials and technology together to develop the perfect filament.
Every development starts with a question. A challenge. A wish.
From there, we start the research: which raw materials, which properties and which performances are needed? We test and optimize formulas, so that your idea becomes reality. Do you want extra strong, flexible materials or filaments with other unique functional properties – we make it work!
We believe that the best innovations come from collaboration.
So do you have a challenge for us?
Let us know, and let's build the future of 3D printing together!
